Hubble: Galaxies Across Space and Time
This talk presents the IMAX short film "Hubble: Galaxies Across Space
and Time". This film was created by a group of about 10 people in the
Office of Public Outreach at the Space Telescope Science Institute
during the fall/winter 2003/2004. I directed the film and did most of
the 3D visualization. This talk provides a look into how we made the
film with a small staff, a short schedule, and an extremely limited
budget.

Versions
I often give the same talk several times, updating and improving (?) the
talk each time. When there are siginificant changes between versions,
I will post both versions and you can choose whichever version works
best for you.
STScI Lunchtime Talk - December 16, 2003
This is the first version of this talk. It was presented to the
general staff of the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI)
as part of the Science Division's "Popular Talks for Everyone at
the Institute" series.
Since I committed to this talk well before the IMAX film was
finished, I called it "Cosmic Cruising: 3D Visualizations of
Large Scale Structure and GOODS". By the time I gave this talk,
the film frames had been finished, but the soundtrack and
narration were not yet complete.
STScI Staff IMAX Preview - March 31, 2004
This talk was given in the IMAX theater at the Maryland Science Center
for the STScI Staff preview of the film. It is basically a shortened
version of the above talk, but with some improvements in several of
the slides. As introductory material (and because the film is only 3
minutes long), we also showed some cool visuals from the Astrophysics
Visualization Lab at STScI.
I can not post the IMAX film on the web, but I have a 640x480 pixel
version (which has only 1.3% of the pixels in the IMAX version)
posted at the very bottom of this web page.
