The galaxies below have been extracted from a list created by Mike Irwin
The center of the Local Group of Galaxies is taken to be the mid-point
between the Andromeda and Milky Way Galaxies. In the coordinates used below,
this central point is taken as (0, 0, 0). The coordinate axes are
chosen such that the line from the Milky Way to Andromeda is the X axis.
The Milky Way is on the negative X axis and Andromeda is opposite on the
positve X axis.
All galaxies with 1.8 million light years of the center point are included
in this list. This creates a dataset of 29 galaxies. The Local Group is
dominated by Andromeda, the Milky Way, and their respective clumps of galaxies
around them.
The coordinates in the list are scaled from -1 to 1, multiply each coordinate
by 1.8 million light years to get physical units.
The galaxies are listed in rough order of decreasing luminosity (as per
Irwin).
